2009 EMBS Best New Chapter Award |

At EMBC 2009 in Minneapolis, MN, our Chapter has received the 2009 EMBS Best New Chapter Award. It was a nice award ceremony with Earl Bakken as speaker (co-founder of Medtronic and developer of the first wearable, external, battery-powered, transistorized pacemaker in 1957). Other plenary speakers at the conference included Andrew Zachary Fire (2006 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine), Gary H. Glover (Stanford University), and Douglas A. Lauffenburger (MIT). However, to attend interesting talks, you do not have to travel to the US. We have also some events in Switzerland.
