BioMedEng association prize for inclusive engineering 2026

Abstracts which provide an inclusive design statement will be reviewed for a prize in inclusive engineering that includes free registration for BioMedEng 2027. Abstracts that provide an inclusive design statement and have been selected for an oral presentation will be judged by the EDI working group on the extent of inclusion of previously underrepresented groups in their research question, study design, models and/or proposed interventions. You should include a description of why and how you believe your approach includes previously excluded groups or targets an unmet need of a minority/ underrepresented group.

An example of a good inclusive design statement is that of last year’s winner: This research is aiming to improve representation for females with limb absence, to ensure prosthesis design considers their specific needs. They have typically been underrepresented in prosthetics research in general, as well as particularly in the specific area of socket design and testing.
