Workshop: Mechanical Characterization of Biomaterials at the Nanoscale using Atomic Force Microscopy
Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) has become an essential tool in biomedical engineering, enabling nanoscale investigation of biological systems with unparalleled resolution and versatility. This workshop, delivered as part of BioMedEng 2026, introduces participants to the principles, capabilities, and emerging applications of AFM in healthcare research and innovation.
Designed for researchers, clinicians, industry professionals, and students, this session will explore how AFM can be used to characterise biological materials and quantify mechanical properties that are critical to understanding disease progression and define treatment strategies.
